The space required is for safety, and to protect the trampoline from any walls, structures and fences which may damage the net or mat rods.We'd recommend leaving a 3ft space between the edge of the trampoline & any hard boundaries, such as walls, fences or sheds.
Simply, yes! Due to the shape of the trampoline, the Medium Oval and Large Oval Trampolines are great for gymnastics. The bigger the space, the safer it is to do gymnastics and tricks. Our trampolines are used by top elite athletes (including gymnasts, skiier/snowboarders and trampolinists) both here in the UK and abroad.
There are two weights you need to be aware of - the Structural Load Capacity and the Maximum User Weight. The first relates to strength and the second relates to safety. The Structural Load Capacity for the medium and large oval trampolines are 700 kgs and the Maximum User Weight 100kgs. There is no age limit more a weight limit for safety purposes.

Our Medium, Large and Jumbo Ovals all have a jumper weight limit of 100kgs, however our Compact Oval only has a weight limit of 80kgs, so if you are planning on adults using the trampoline, you may want to look at the bigger models.
